Now, Now Every Children @ The Entry 12/12/2008

There is always a strange dichotomy for me when I see Now Now Every Children live in concert. Their polished songwriting does not seem like it should be coming from a group that looks so young. Their CD release show Friday night at the 7th Street Entry was a chance for them to celebrate their strong debut LP, Cars, and a chance to cap off a year in which they have grown into one of the brightest up and coming bands in the cities.

The band, a two piece in the studio comprised of guitarist/singer Cacie Dalager and drummer Brad Hale, is supplemented live with an additional keyboard player and a bassist/guitar player. They have a strong, full sound that translates well from their Ian Anderson-produced disc to the live setting. The songs range from indie rock pop songs to more gritty, drum machine lead electronic pieces. They started the show, like their new disc, with the slow burning “Not One, But Two” and blazed through most of the songs from Cars. Over the next 50 minutes The Entry was filled with a nice sized crowd that was entertained by the band with some lively banter between the two main members of the band. Their stage presence has grown considerably since I saw them at their EP release show last summer—at that show, they seemed timid to a fault and almost seemed scared to be on stage. That apprehension seems to be gone and they are really coming into their own as a band, with Dalager becoming a powerful force with her frantic guitar playing and pristine singing.

The band will take their momentum from their successful release show towards their upcoming Midwestern tour and eventually onto their European tour. They are a local act that is worth keeping your eyes on as they seem to have most of the things needed to become a break out band. Their strong debut album, Cars, is out now.

It’s only a matter of time until this band starts selling out large venues. Cacie will seduce the masses with her voice!
