Public Enemy announce May 25 date at The Whiskey in Calgary

Though the status of Public Enemy‘s new album is up in the air following an unsuccessful bid to encourage fans to help fund the recording process, what is certain is that Chuck D, Flava Flav, Professor Griff, and the rest of the P.E. crew will be returning to Calgary for a show at The Whiskey in May. In keeping with the sour news on the new album, P.E.’s most recent release, 2007′s How You Sell Soul to a Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul? which celebrated the group’s 20th anniversary, was a commercial flop despite being fueled by the terrific single “Harder Than You Think”. Maybe this is just the music gods’ way of saying that it’s time for Public Enemy to take an extended break from the studio.

The Whiskey: Tuesday May 25, 2010, doors at 8:00pm, tickets $45, 18+.
