While apparently everyone who’s anyone is in Austin this week for the SXSW festival, I’m stuck finishing midterms. No biggie, just sayin’… The SXSW festival epitomizes all things indie, bands with no labels, no steady income and in some cases, little to no talent (considering that there are some 1300 bands playing…there has to be a few who just suck…law of averages). I thought I’d take it back to a time of obscene decadence by featuring the second most expensive music video in history, Puff Daddy’s “Victory.” Featuring a post-mortem Notorious B.I.G., explosions, Danny DeVito, Busta Rhymes, a riot squad, helicopters, Dennis Hopper, and a rain machine (just for starters) the total production cost was a mere $2.7 million. To be honest, it’s not really that good of a video - imagine that.

I really prefer “Been Around the World.” Oh, and yes, I completely understand that I forever give up all credibility for saying that I like any Puff Daddy songs, but that’s life, I suppose. The inclusion of Ma$e, Wyclef, Jennifer Lopez (pre-JLo), an Arabian castle and a private jet…and all that for less than $2.7 million.

But, if you did want to keep it real…and you think that Puffy is good, but Wu-Tang is the best, then this clip is for you. Ol’ Dirty doin his thing during Shawn Colvin’s “Song of the Year” acceptance at the 40th annual Grammy Awards. Wu-Tang is for the kids! (link)
