New Music Videos: Radiohead, Fucked Up & Matt and Kim

Think: Electric familiarity

Radiohead’s “Staircase” is taken from the band’s forthcoming From The Basement session. With flighty electronics peppered with a beat of two drummers, the track shows a less critical influence of synth as the band slowly works its way back into the realm of rock. Radiohead released the first From the Basement collection in 2008 to accompany the release of In Rainbows.

Think: Boys vs. Girls

In “Queen of Hearts,” the first music video in support of Fucked Up’s 2011 rock opera David Comes to Life, a classroom of children play out the scene set before them by echoing the hoarse growls of Damian “Pink Eye” Abraham. Where was this when I was in grade school?

Think: Flash concerts

Returning to New York for another bit of performance art, Matt and Kim rally a group of flash mobbers to assist them in sporadic performances around the city for the new video for “Block After Block.” The track is taken from the duo’s 2010 release, Sidewalks, and follows the brutal music video for “Cameras” which debuted this past January.
