The Rural Alberta Advantage on the road to SXSW 2011

The Rural Alberta Advantage are the third band in this series documenting the road different artists take to SXSW. Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the trio signed to Saddle Creek in 2009, who later that year re-released the band’s debut album Hometowns. Earlier this month the group followed up that release by dropping Departing, an album which The Globe and Mail recently touted as one of 2011′s “must-hear” records. In this video we get a sense of where the group is coming from before taking off on their voyage—subsequently doing so from Boston; one of the many joys of being a touring band being that you’re always touring. For more on the group CB published an interview with frontman Nils Edenloff in 2009.

This series of posts will also include videos following bands the likes of Young the Giant and Yellow Ostrich, and are being sponsored by SPIN and HP Envy laptops.
