Slayer “Hate Worldwide”

slayer hate worldwide

Considering the path Slayer has chosen, the new music the band continues to crank out these days shouldn’t really be shocking to anyone. Play “Hate Worldwide” back to back with any song off Show No Mercy, and the basic principles still apply. Ravenous, headbanging thrash riffage and hate-fueled lyrical venom are spewed forth at impossible speeds, complemented by enough insanely-fast, squealy solos and maniacal time changes to make your parents heads explode. However, play the same song side-to-side with the newest single from any other band from the big four (Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth), and it’s easy to see why SLLLLLLLAYYYYYYERRRR(!) still has the ability to turn heads with each new release. Slayer is the only band that never quit, which never compromised intensity or speed for popularity, and has only gotten meaner and more extreme with age.

“Hate Worldwide” is already the second single from Slayer’s forthcoming tenth studio album, World Painted Blood (the first was the “Psychopathy Red” limited 7″ that was released earlier this year on Record Store Day), an album that still is awaiting an official release date. With a co-headlining tour with quintessential-crazy-man Marilyn Manson on the way, there’s no question that the band wants to bring out its fans in large numbers with an extended promotional time for the album.

Personally, the song feels almost a bit too stereotypically Slayer for me to enjoy wholeheartedly as a single. Like many, I was hoping for a bit more of a surprise, and the production on “Hate Worldwide” doesn’t quite hold up to the beefy sound of recent albums like God Hates Us All and Christ Illusion. Still, “Psychopathy Red” did get my blood boiling, so I’ll hope the time spent waiting for a release date is put to good use. [via Shockhound]

I really hope that’s not the final mix of the track. It sounds sooooo flat.

    :(

  • I like Slayer as much as the next guy, but I have to say there is nothing really “extreme” or metal about selling your CD single exclusively at Hot Topic. Maybe the devil shops there now, but I doubt it.

  • awesome awesome. slayer RULES. this album is gonna be amazing.

  • wow…now i know why i’m a slayer fan. my satanic hat goes off to this band, never just for the money and this proves it. cant wait to add this to my collection, but hey, i’d buy anything these guys made.
