Sufjan Stevens announces intimate 16 date fall tour

sufjan stevens by denny renshaw

Next month Sufjan Stevens will embark on a brief tour in which the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist will touch down in some of the nation’s most intimate venues. In the case of Minneapolis that means… the 400 Bar? No offense, but with such a rich pool of venues offering brilliant soundsystems and (eh, ehm) actual sight lines to the stage, why the 400 Bar is atop the list of venues—I do not know. TicketWeb is offering the following on sale information: $15, 18+, tickets go on sale August 15. I suppose for $15, the 400 Bar will have to do. Cryptacize will open each date on the tour. I just tried to purchase tickets to Sufjan Stevens at the (ugh) 400 Bar. They went on sale at 12 noon on Saturday, August 15. Right at noon, I logged onto Ticket Web (owned by TicketMaster, by the way), and proceeded to try and get tickets. For the first minute or two, when I clicked on “Purchase Tickets,” I kept being forwarded to a page that said that tickets were not on sale yet. After hitting my computer’s back button and reloading the Web page a few times, the same thing. At 12:03 pm, I was finally forwarded to a new page. It said that the show was entire sold out.

    WTF?

I thought I might try calling the 400 Bar to see if this was indeed the case, and interestingly, their phone number seems to be out of service. They do not appear to have an e-mail address or any other way of contacting them.

Just curious – did anyone else try to get tickets and have a similar experience. I’m kind of pissed right now.

  • i got the “not on sale yet” right at noon, opened a diff browser window and was able to get them right after that.

they sold out in about 3-4 minutes

  • Wow, the exact same thing happened to us, Drew!! We even tried calling the number at the venue… Very disappointing. I also notice there are a number of people on Craig’s list looking to get tickets (not sure how they expect to pull that off…) claiming they were “screwed” by Ticket Web. How many seats are even in the 400 bar?? Thankfully, my husband planned ahead and scored tickets in Madison, just in case, since they went on sale earlier (wost case scenario, he would get to see both shows..)
