The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Stereogum premiered a new video yesterday from To Kill a Petty Bourgeoisie for the track “In People’s Homes” from the album Marlone.

— The Books will be playing the Cedar Cultural Center December 1.

— City Pages has photos of School of Seven Bells at the Entry & Gwar at First Avenue.

— McNally Smith has posted a pair of video selections featuring faculty members Jeremy Messersmith and Dessa Darling.

PBS has footage of Tavis Smiley’s recent interview with long-time Prince collaborator Sheila E. and her father Pete Escovedo. The purple one himself recently performed on the French television program Le Grand Journal.
