The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Vinyl & Vodka has a review of Total Babe’s recent performance at the Entry.

—The TC Daily Planet interviews Brihanu of Junkyard Empire.

—The Milwaukee AV Club has a review of Andrew Bird & Dosh’s show at the Pabst Theater.

—Motion City Soundtrack will be performing at the Triple Rock on Halloween. The early show (4:30!) is all ages and will include a “Best Dinosaur Costume” contest where the winner will receive $100. Why a dinosaur costume? In honor of their new album My Dinosaur Life, of course. Also, you can now stream the first single from the album, “Disappear,” at the band’s MySpace page.
