Citing a conversation he had recently, Gorilla vs. Bear concluded of the new video, “This stuff is tailor-made for those of us that grew up on cheesy, over-the-top, early ’80s TV music.” I agree despite having not necessarily grown up on cheesy, over-the-top, early ’80s TV music, but rather late-’80s to early ’90s cheesy, over the top TV music (though much of which was derivative of, or was entirely rehashed from programs from and of the early ’80s). There is a certain element of the sound however, cheering…chimes…rambunctious horns, that does leave me with a feeling that I’ve just watched a back-to-back marathon of Sesame Street sing-a-longs and Peanuts cartoons; which is probably why The Go! Team appeals to the inner child within.
whoa- that vid is so trippy! but fun and catchy. reminds me a lot of the beginning of “you can’t do that on television”
