Twin Cities News:
— “Tears welting in my eyes and a nerdy smile on my face during the entirety of the show” – City Pages’ Amber Schadewald on My Brightest Diamond’s Cedar show.
— Muja Messiah + The Nomad = Switchblade Comb 1 Year Anniversary Party.
— Radio K has posted an in-studio performance by Of Montreal.
— “Overall, this was a pretty amazing event; very cheap, free drinks, supported a good cause and exposed me to a huge amount of great local art.” The Wake’s Jack Spencer on this past weekend’s Clapperclaw Festival.
— The Current is streaming studio sessions from Eagles of Death Metal, Blitzen Trapper and Peter Adams.
— “The hands didn’t just hang in the air, but pumped all set long, as if the crowd were desperate to deflect some of the sound and fury being cast upon them from the stage.” City Pages’ David Hansen on P.O.S., Sims & Mike Mictlan’s set at the Uptown Bar.
— “The songs are never overwhelmed and instead recall the heyday of Roxy Music instead of the last days of Thompson Twins, you know, sounding epic in just two and a half minutes, instead of excruciatingly, mind-numbingly long at three and a half.” HWTS’s Pat O’Brien on Solid Gold’s CD release show at the Varsity Theater.
— Jen Paulson interviews Little Man.
Local Bands: I’m thinking you should enter for a chance to open for Kings of Leon in Chicago at a benefit show for the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. If nothing else, think about that in terms of a resume builder… “Played The Entry”… “Jammed at The Nomad”… “Opened for Kings of Leon at the House of Blues in Chicago.” Do it 4 tha shorties.
