The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

— Heiruspecs’ Sean McPherson has revived the Turf Club’s ongoing Wednesday night series called Reloaded Wednesdays. The showcase, which will feature hip hop, jazz and R&B acts, will resume Sept. 17 with Junkyard Empire, Bottom Feeders & DJ Anton.

— Ted Leo and the Pharmacists are releasing a digital EP “with the intent to bring awareness and financial aid to the people affected by the police brutality in Minnesota.” All proceeds from the four song release will go directly to Food Not Bombs Minneapolis, Democracy Now and the legal fees for those who have been arrested.
