Twin Cities:
— Amazon is offering the “exclusive” US premiere of a track from Bob Dylan’s forthcoming rarities release, Tell Tale Signs – The Bootleg Series Vol. 8. And while the best part isn’t that it’s being offered for free…it certainly doesn’t hurt. (link) (Official) (MySpace) (Wikipedia)
Bob Dylan “Mississippi” (mp3)
Black Blondie, Climbing PoeTree, Black Audience, Carpscale Orchester and DJ Shannon Blowtorch have all been announced for a bill at Pi Bar on October 4. (MySpace)
— Fleet Foxes have added an additional show at the Cedar Cultural Center next month. In addition to the previously scheduled concert on the 11th the band will play an early show at 5:00. (link) (Official) (MySpace) (Wikipedia)

(Inter)National:
— The Daily Swarm points to an IFC panel assembled to discuss the future of music journalism. The good? Maura Johnston’s well informed commentary suggesting that it won’t be journalism that witnesses a decline, but rather criticism. The bad? Michael Azerrad does something that hasn’t been done in ever: he uses the words “Mariah Carey” and “pioneer” in the same sentence. The ugly: while describing the site’s success, Pitchfork’s Ryan Schreiber suggests that “controversy courts readership.” But what happens when controversy begins to outshine everything else? (link)
Every day he hustles: Not only has Kanye West announced that he’ll be dropping 808’s & Heartbreaks on December 16th, but it looks like he’ll be going head-to-head once again with 50 Cent. 50’s Before I Self Destruct will be released a week before Kanye’s album, on December 9. Additionally, Kanye is also working on an HBO reality show and a “hip-hop puppet show” for Comedy Central called Alligator Boots. (link) (link) (link) (Official) (MySpace) (Wikipedia)
— Barack Rock has been launched to the webs. “Musicians and artists donate exclusive MP3s and artwork to support Obama.” (including the likes of the Twin Cities’ own Rob Skoro) (link) (Official)
— Want to know where the money goes when you hit Ticketmaster up for those killer Death Cab seats? Coolfer breaks down the figures. (link)
Clay Aiken to People: “Yes, I’m Gay.” People’s inevitable reaction, “Yes, we know.” (link) (Official) (MySpace) (Wikipedia)
