The New Pornographers on the Late Show

Submitted by Chris DeLine on August 22, 2007 – 11:00 amNo Comment

The New Pornographers performed the lead single from the recently released Challengers, “My Rights Versus Yours,” on Monday’s episode of The Late Show with David Letterman. While a pleasant track, neither Stereogum nor Pitchfork’s Marc Hogan had much to offer in the way of commentary in terms of the performance. The single doesn’t ring with as much enthusiasm as previous recordings; that combined with the level of excitement offered by the band’s live performance (or lack of) make me question whether or not The New Pornographers are becoming indie rock’s version of adult contemporary.
