The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

A plus D have dropped their monthly best of, Bootie Top 10, capturing the best in the world of mashups for the month of January, 2008. The mix offers a pretty good selection, but I think that the best of the bunch is actually the duo’s contribution.

DJ Lobsterdust returns with some great stuff this week including a solid Joe Batan/Blast mix and this, one of my favorites of the year thus far, “Jenny’s Superstitious.”

The great crew at Mashuptown point out a producer that hasn’t crossed my plate before, Ben Double M. “A prolific mashup artist who heavily favors disco and house fused mashups, and he just created a floorburner,” with this Jay Kid/Angie Stone mix. Though I’m heavily biased towards another track which uses the Jay Kid sample, this one ranks high.

The Hood Internet got some great interweb plugs a while back with DJ STV SLV’s fantastic Spank Rock/Burial mashup. I’d also suggest checking out The Hood’s New Young Pony Club/Simian Mobile Disco and R. Kelly/The Honeydrips mashes.

New DJ Erb this week with what should be an awkward mix between Method Man & Redman/John Denver…but in all fairness, it makes perfect sense. As Erb says, “Get that Rocky Mountain High,”

Mashuptown leads up to a new release by French DJ ComaR. I wouldn’t typically be interested its overcompensating dance factor, but…it’s just so good.

Lastly, but not leastly, DJ MDSB has dropped another bootleg album, No Snakes Attached. On the whole I don’t think it’s near as solid as his first, Futuresnake/Lovesounds, but it still has its moments. The first track I heard from it was The Concrete Boyz/Cat Power mashup but I’m leaning towards the Memphis Bleek/Calvin Harris track as my favorite on the mix.
