Late this past week DJ Doc Rok dropped a line announcing his latest project, a mashup album combining the talents of passed artists Jimi Hendrix & Notorious B.I.G. Since its release on Friday the success has already been so overwhelming that the original server the album was on crashed. From Doc Rok, “Biggie: The greatest rapper of all time. Jimi Hendrix: The greatest guitarist of all time. Truly a deadly combination, I’ve remixed Biggie over tracks sampled from Jimi Hendrix’s timeless classics, the result of which is yours to enjoy (as always) for free.”

If you’re heading down to Austin this week to take in the South by Southwest festivities be sure to check out at least one of The Hood Internet‘s sets (Highly recommended: Friday March 14′s IHEARTCOMIX vs. MAD DECENT AUSTIN BLOWOUT).

From the blogs: am.fm.pm dropped a few older tracks from DJ Topcat this week mixing a variety of MCs with some rock champions from yesteryears. I’d suggest checking out the Slick Rick/Paul Simon bootleg, though The Band/50 Cent mashup is also fantastic.

Speaking of DJ Topcat, he put out a solid set of releases this past month including Mos Def vs. Stevie Wonder along side these unusual mixes combining MGMT and Talib Kweli as well as Chuck Chillout with the Raiders of the Lost Ark theme.
