The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Depending on how you approach either of these indie-darlings, this Santogold/Justice could be a number of things to any number of people; it might be the best thing you’ve heard in a while or it might be yet another reason to give up on music altogether…I’d prefer to think that it’s not the latter. Utilizing a track I may forever associate with Copycat due to one of last year’s finest mashups, “Knowing the Rhythm is Right,” DJ Schmolli drops a fantastic mashup here combining Nelly Furtado’s “Say it Right” with Turbonegro’s unbelievably cheeky epic “Fuck The World.”

BoingBoing recently introduced a unique concept album, Gangstagrass, which simply combines the stylings of hip hop with a bit of the blues and bluegrass. Don’t get me wrong, the music is solid, but I think the greatest accomplishment of the posting may come from the comments which followed, one user defining the album as “Hick Hop.” Brilliant.

Lastly, a while back Schmolli dropped this mash combining The Kooks and Beastie Boys…it’s a little late, but far too catchy to pass by.
