It’s probably a good thing that Jack White has so many side projects going on right now. This way he might not being offended when fans of the White Stripes realize that the Fiery Furnaces have claimed the throne as the reigning power house duo of indie rock.

This Week in Mashups (06/21/2008)

Submitted by Chris DeLine on June 21, 2008 – 11:01 amNo Comment

The past few weeks have been heavily occupied with moving, work and the rest of life’s fantastic offerings…that being said, I’ve still been trying to do my best with keeping up with my favorite bootleggers, dj BC included. No idea when this dropped, and maybe I am a bit behind the times, but all the same I think that this is the most experimental collection he’s done. Attempting to balance lyrically-focused MCs with avant electronic composers doesn’t sound like an easy task, and while it’s layered in manner advantageous for the audiophile BC’s tracks are sensitive and can come across as a bit trying to listen to. If you find yourself feeling that way, might I suggest the remixes also released on the set – they’re smooth and offer an undeniably enjoyable listening experience.

ABX & DJ STV SLV each offer up new material this week – and maybe only because I can’t stomach anything R. Kelly related these days I’ll recommend ABX’s contribution.
