2k10 in Review: The Best Music Video Narratives

Sometimes a music video’s story can overtake the song and become the primary (and sometimes sole) focus of the piece. Think the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” or the Smashing Pumpkins’ “1979“; both songs are fantastic in their own right, but each corresponding video acts as a mini-film which could easily work on its own. The following is a selection of the best 2010 had to offer in the realm of narrative-driven music videos.

#10) Mexicans with Guns “Dame Lo”
(Directed by Ðueý F, aka System D-128)

#9) Frightened Rabbit “The Loneliness and the Scream”
(Directed by the Handheld Cine Club)
