By Chris DeLine on June 16, 2009 One Comment

It has just been announced that following a series of summer dates and a brief stint overseas, Tortoise will be playing a handful of select cities in the Midwest this fall. Included in the dates is a return engagement at the Cedar Cultural Center, a venue the band last played two years ago.

Tortoise’s new album, Beacons of Ancestorship, is the band’s first full-length in over five years and will be released June 23 via Thrill Jockey. Building up to the fall’s Midwest dates, Tortoise will participate in this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival as one of a select few bands that are performing request-only sets to kick off the event.
