Greg Swan recalls Tuesday night’s 7th Street Entry show, “Great Northern’s audacious approach to songwriting — varied time signatures, minor and dissonant chords, magnetic lyrical concepts — explodes live on-stage like delicious, melting ear candy dripping from the speakers. It’s a sound too big to come from such small people.” (Perfect Porridge)

Britpop mainstays Travis will be returning to First Avenue this Sunday. (Rock ‘n’ Roll Star)

Amber Schadewald slightly discounts Wednesday night’s Varsity Theater show, “Maximo Park sounded clear and strong and a bit like any other indie-rock band from their side of the sea.” (How Was The Show)

Devendra Banhart recently announced that his new album will be entitled Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon, he’ll be hitting First Avenue September 15th. (Pitchfork)

Prince’s Superbowl Halftime performance is up for an Emmy award…and for those interested, so is “Dick in a Box.” (Idolator)

Cradle of Filth will be playing the Myth with CKY October 21st. (SMN News)
