VBS Meets 50 Cent

Submitted by Chris DeLine on September 13, 2007 – 10:30 amNo Comment

Vice recently conducted a pre-9/11 interview with 50 Cent and he honestly expanded on who he is right now; in surprisingly elaborate detail nonetheless. Despite Pitchfork’s conclusion by Ryan Dombal that “50’s new album is a blatant rehash – a bottom-line sequel that insults the same audience it mindlessly panders to,” 50 suggests that his success is attributed to “artists that won’t adjust.” He continues by building steam towards a line of dietary supplements before unabashedly sounding off on the price of fame and his aloofness to it all, “I like to stay in control of the situation by not caring about what they’re saying, I think when you’re caring about what they’re saying too much you start shaving your head and running around like Britney.” Later announcing that Curtis will sell 8 million copies he suggests that (in regards to the Kanye/50 album sales dupe), “its not a challenge at all, Kanye west is a good artist…” but, “Kanye West hasn’t sold a third of the records I’ve sold.” Early estimates put Mr. West’s Graduation in the lead by far and 50’s star (at least in terms of non health-food related sales) seems to be falling. As a business man I honestly look at 50 as a star; as an MC though…he’s no Kanye.
