The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Wilco on the Late Show with David Letterman

This is one of the most important songs on the band’s latest, Sky Blue Sky, which was released yesterday – and again I’m finding myself ever drawing closer to Wilco. Though in all fairness, you can’t deal the lyrics, “And if you’re strung out like a kite, or stung awake in the night – it’s alright to be frightened,” to someone in a deeply depressed state and expect them to not identify with your song.
