The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

The story broke yesterday that Rage Against The Machine frontman Zach de la Rocha’s solo album will see its release in the near future. This is fantastic news, especially so considering the reaction the positive Rage Against The Machine has been getting from their various reunion shows performed this year. Since last we heard, he’s recorded a little with Blackalicious, ?uestlove, Trent Reznor and DJ Shadow amongst others, but when it comes right down to it – no one really knows what de la Rocha’s new album is going to sound like. My best guess? No idea…but in the meantime we can take a listen to some samples of his recordings since the last Rage album.

i think that it is some of the best news i have heard in the longest time. this country needs zachs voice to be heard in the times and such injustice that is going on as we speack. no one else can do it better and in rage the minds as others i am very excited for this album.

agreed – the only thing that’s shocked me (the happy kind) more than RATM’s reunion tour was this news; I look forward to it like nothing else right now (which means I’ll probably set my expectations too high, only to be let down)
