You can record your Zoom meetings locally or in the cloud. Then, when you want to share a recording, you can generate a link and share it with your audience.
Local recordings are saved in a folder on your computer, and cloud recordings are stored online. To find a cloud recording, click the Recordings tab and select one.
Go to the Meeting
Zoom users can save their recordings locally on their computers, upload them to a cloud storage platform, and share them via link. Regardless of where your meeting recording is saved, it’s essential to know how to find the file so that you can view and listen to the content.
To access a local Zoom meeting recording, log in to the Zoom desktop client and click the Recordings tab. This tab will display all of the recorded meetings that you’ve made. The recordings saved locally on your computer will be in the folder designated by your account settings (or by default on your user directory).
If you’re using the Zoom cloud to save your recordings, a link to the recording will be shared with you after the meeting concludes. Once the link is accessible, you can share it with other Zoom participants via email or file-sharing platforms.
Zoom recordings keep team members updated on project progress, collaborations, and decisions. However, it’s easy for people to forget many of the finer details of a meeting minutes after its conclusion. If you’re worried about employees forgetting important information, consider using a professional audio transcription service such as Sonix to create your meetings’ transcripts automatically.
Click the Recordings tab.
After uploading a Zoom meeting recording to a platform, you may email team members the link or post it on the corporate message board. Additionally, you can add a password to limit access and protect sensitive information. You can also let viewers download the video, which is helpful for jumbled audio or accessibility needs.
Where Zoom recordings are saved depends on whether you use a local or cloud account. The recordings can be found in your account portal’s “Recordings” tab on the Zoom website if you use a cloud account. If you use a local account, the recordings can be in a folder on your computer where the Zoom application saves meeting recordings by default.
To share a Zoom recording, click the Recordings tab and select the meeting you want to share. You can modify who can watch the recording and copy a sharing link in the new open window. You can also enable auto transcripts and password protection for the recording. Click the radial button next to “Publicly” or “Internally” to adjust these options. Finally, click the “Copy Sharing Information” button to copy a link that can be shared via email, text, or other communication channels. The link will provide users with the option to either watch or download the recorded Zoom meeting.
Click Share
Once on the Recordings tab, locate a cloud recording you want to share. Click the Sharing button, then share the recording publicly or privately with your team. You can also add a password to the recording to ensure only your team members can access it.
Once a meeting has been recorded, it can be stored in the cloud or locally on your computer. A local recording can be saved to your computer by clicking the File menu and choosing Save As. This saves the mp4 video file to your computer, which you can then upload to a video hosting site or other file storage system for sharing.
Additionally, create a link in Zoom and share it with others by clicking the Share icon. This gives them access to a video streaming page showing only the selected meeting (not the entire one).
The file sizes of recordings vary depending on where they are saved. Locally recorded videos are a few megabytes, while cloud recordings can be gigabytes or more significant.
Copy the Link
If you use Zoom for a classroom, sharing recorded Zoom meetings is a great way to keep your colleagues and students updated. You can share recordings stored locally on your computer or in the cloud, depending on your Zoom subscription settings and whether you have cloud recording enabled. If you decide to put your videos in the cloud, you can allow viewers to download or stream the video (optional).
Click the Recordings tab and choose the recording you wish to share after the meeting has finished recording. After that, select Share to obtain a link to copy and paste into your preferred email or messaging app. The link will open the Zoom web or desktop app if the recording is saved locally or redirect to another platform where the video is hosted if the meeting is in the cloud.
You can customize how the link will appear by clicking Edit and selecting from options such as the title, an expiration date, whether viewers can download, and a password. You can also choose to rename the link so it is easier for people to remember and associate it with the specific meeting you are sending. This is especially helpful when sharing with colleagues who may be newer to the remote work world, where short and memorable names can make the difference between a link being clicked and an unopened message.
