Nowadays vacuum cleaners are much suited for repairs than in the past. Previously, if a part broke down or malfunctioned, it probably wouldn’t have been repaired. At least more often than not. Luckily, today’s vacuums are created in such a way that repairing them is not only easy – or at least relatively easy – but also cost-effective. But to repair a machine, you’d first have to understand what those parts are and what they do.
Motor
No vacuum would operate without a motor. It’s the essential piece that powers everything, and it’s attached to a fan that forces air over the exhausted unit. The motor is also responsible for the suction power and performance, but it’s not the only factor when it comes to overall performance.
Internal Fan
This part is responsible for guiding every collected piece of dust and debris to the containment unit. It’s located behind the rotating brush, and it continuously operates when the machine is turned on.
Power Head
These are found at the base of the vacuum cleaner. You can adjust their heights depending on the floor you’re using, and are suited for any type of floor, whether it’s wooden floors or carpets, the power head operates with ease. In many of the power heads, a clog port is included for easy removal of blockages. In some units, a clog port is not included, but you should look for a model that has one, since not having a clog port might damage your vacuum.
Brush Roller
These are highly effective for cleaning rugs, carpets, and even mattresses. You can adjust the height of the brush roller to avoid damage on bare floors, and often come together with power heads. Brush rollers are a welcome addition and are very useful to have.
Filters
These parts are extremely important, so you should always have them well maintained. They’re responsible for keeping the solid debris separated from the dust particles, and if you’re not careful and the filter gets damaged, then you’re running the risk of further damage to the vacuum cleaner. Luckily, you can find spares easily. If you need, for example, a Dyson filter replacement, you can find one over at Spares2You, as well as any other type of filter or replacement part.
Dust bag
This is the container that stores all the trash that was picked up by the vacuum. In many cases, it’s not even a bag, but rather a plastic container, and you’ll need to either replace them or empty them. There are vacuum models that have two bag sections – one for dust, while the other for solid items.
Switch
The on/off button can be on different parts of the vacuum, and depending on the model, it may be designed to be pressed with the hand or the foot.
Depending on what you need at the moment, spare parts are available all the time for any type of vacuum cleaner. It’s important to understand the parts that make a vacuum because you can avoid having it damaged next time.
