Although many of us may feel like we’ve tried everything we want to try, it’s time to stick to what’s tried and true: giving new things a taste can help expand your horizons and make you more creative.
These are four awesome flavor pairings everyone should try and what they could do for your tastebuds.
Why Try New Combinations?
If you’ve ever dipped a french fry in a milkshake, you understand that sometimes strange food combinations just make both parts even better. Although it’s important to stick to foods you enjoy, it’s a good idea to push your boundaries and try new things. Not only will new foods inspire you to try new things and have more fun with them, but you could also change your relationship with food to a more healthy one. Trying new combinations may lead you to things you won’t like: but it could also lead you to things you would have never known you’d love otherwise.
Peanut Butter and Pickles
Peanut butter and pickles are a classic flavor that many can’t even fathom trying: but it’s delicious. To make this, you need two slices of plain bread, your favorite peanut butter, and sliced dill pickles. Although you can make this with sweet pickles, the dill flavor works far better with peanut butter.
Spread peanut butter how you would for any sandwich, and then add pickle slices and top your sandwich with the other slice of bread. This fantastic mix of sweet, savory, and tangy is refreshing and fun year-round.
Olive Oil and Ice Cream
If you’ve never tried this, it’s okay to admit it sounds strange. This is one of the tastiest combinations, though! Get good vanilla ice cream and a bottle of olive oil that you enjoy. Simply scoop your ice cream, drizzle a tablespoon of olive oil on top (for around a cup of ice cream), and enjoy! This complex flavor is both earthy and sweet while slightly savory and is heavenly regardless of how many times you have it. You won’t want to stop until you’ve had a second bowl!
Habaneros and Sweet Jelly
The sweet heat is a combo everyone should get more of! The best way to enjoy habanero jelly is on your favorite soft bread. Simply spread it on, and take a bite! You can also toast your bread or make a sandwich with it, but soft bread and habanero jelly are a pairing made in heaven that everyone should try.
Strawberries and Balsamic Vinegar
Another incredibly simple combination of strawberries dipped in balsamic vinegar. This only works with juicy and very ripe strawberries. If they’re bitter at all, it can throw off the flavor combination and leave it tasting lackluster and gross. Dip your fresh strawberry in, and then take a bite! First, the sour vinegar hits your tongue and is immediately chased by a burst of sweet strawberry juice. It’s delicious and fantastic.
Every Tasty Pairing Is Worth a Try
Whether you’re feeling daring or a little worried about some of these combinations: it’s a good idea to try them! Not only will they broaden your flavor horizons, but they’re also absolutely delicious.
