How To Prevent Wrinkles

Looking forever young is what most adults want, but the big question is, is it possible? Well, yes, it is. As age catches up, our bodies also change significantly. The skin particularly may start showing wrinkles on various parts of the body as the production of collagen slows down with age. Having wrinkles is very normal, but truth be told, most of us want to maintain our youthful, glowing skin. Wondering how to go about it? Look no further. Here are 7ways you can prevent wrinkles;

  • Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!

The importance of hydrating throughout the day cannot be stressed enough. Water is considered a miracle drink for your skin. In a day, you should make a point of drinking at least 8 glasses of water. It helps flush out toxins in the body and makes your skin healthier. Drinking enough water helps your skin to stay moisturized for long and increases its elasticity. As a result, it helps prevent wrinkles.

  • Avoid the sun

While it is advisable to bask in the sun to get vitamin D, too much exposure can damage your skin. Try as much as possible not to stay under the sun for long. If you have to, it is imperative to always wear your sunscreen.

  • Moisturize

The drier the skin is, the more prone it is to get wrinkles. You, therefore, need to keep your skin moisturized all the time to keep it supple. After washing your face, ensure that you moisturize using the right oils. Yet again, do not forget to wear your sunscreen after moisturizing the skin.

  • Get enough sleep

Ever wondered why good sleep is often referred to as ‘beauty sleep.’ Perhaps one of the reasons is that getting good sleep is good for your skin. If you don’t get enough sleep, the body produces cortisol in high amounts, increasing the rate at which the skin cells break down. Sleep deprivation also affects skin texture, skin hydration, and collagen growth. Therefore, step up your sleep routine and ensure that you get at least 6 to eight hours of sleep every day.

  • Avoid smoking

Did you know that smoking is harmful to your skin? Smoking reduces and damages collagen and elastin, which are responsible for the skin’s elasticity hence causing wrinkles. Cigarette smoke also inhibits the proper flow of oxygen around the skin, significantly contributing to the development of wrinkles. Also, due to the continuous pursing of lips while smoking, wrinkles may develop around the mouth and under the eyes. To avoid premature aging of the skin, therefore, you should avoid smoking.

  • Watch what you eat

If your sugar and carbs intake is high, it might be about time to ditch them as they contribute to the formation of wrinkles on the skin. Eat a balanced diet that includes anti-inflammatory foods and foods with antioxidant properties as they help improve the skin’s elasticity. Fruits and vegetables, salmon, olive oil, pomegranate, green tea, avocados, and salmon are examples of foods that will help make your skin glow and look young.

  • Anti-wrinkle injections

Getting the anti wrinkle injections can also help prevent wrinkles. After a proper assessment by your dermatologist, they will advise on the best treatment to help you get rid of the lines and wrinkles hence giving you a more rejuvenated, younger look.

While aging is inevitable, the tips mentioned earlier will help keep the wrinkles at bay and make your skin look younger for longer.
