Here’s how it all started. While exploring some of the online slot games at one of the UK’s most popular bingo sites – Kitty Bingo site, the possibilities appeared to be endless. Slots and Games such as Extra Chili Slot came to the fore. So, everyone must be thinking about chilli peppers by now. More precisely… What is the hottest pepper in the world? And how would it feel if you had to eat it?
Well, peppers are meant to spice things up but not all of them do this in the same way. Some are like a trapped cobra; quick to attach and deliver an intense amount of pain to make you realise you’ve made a mistake – but we love it! Others will only bathe the back of your throat with a little warmth. However, if you are into spicy foods and think that your best dish is missing something, then you might want to consider the ultimate pepper. One that is its own brand of evil. One that will set your face ablaze with pain… Its name does all the talking – The Carolina Reaper.
Don’t feel sorry for those who decided to eat this death pepper. They knew what they were getting into – these guys really did not fear the reaper! Scientists measure the spiciness of peppers with a unit called Scoville Heat Units. While a mere jalapeno tends to be spicy, it has a SHU of 2,500 to 8,000. Now, can you guess the SHU of the Carolina Reaper? 10,000? 20,000? 50,000 maybe? No… a whopping 1.5 million!! Now you know why dealing with the Carolina Reaper requires extreme caution.
How did this happen? Where did such a thing come from? Nature cannot be so ruthless, right? Correct… which is why the Carolina Reaper was invented by a man named Ed Currie. He came up with this by crossbreeding the Pakistani Naga Chili and Red Habanero Chili to give birth to this heatwave in your month!
Wonder how it feels to take a bite of the hottest pepper in the world? On your first bite, the Carolina Reaper is sweet and floral – quite innocent actually. But then it drops the guise… and all hell is unleashed! When your teeth tear through the pulp, the membranes that hold extreme amounts of Capsaicinoids will be released and start to spread throughout your mouth. These alkaloids will stick to the receptors in your mouth that are used to detect heat. This is what causes the burning sensations and it also sends signals to your brain to let you know that you are in pain – good times.
When you swallow the pepper, the alkaloids will spread to other parts of your body. And guess what… All of the organs the pepper has to pass through will experience pain. Also, your heat receptors will be triggered while all this takes place. Which means that the ordeal will not stop with your mouth. 20 seconds is enough to begin feeling your throat tighten up and to start sweating from your cheeks, neck, and forehead.
After 1 to 3 minutes, you will find that the pain is unmanageable. A cold dairy product will be needed to soothe the pain – milk has a protein called Casein that can knock the capsaicinoids off the receptors. This will help alleviate your torture a little bit.
After 20 minutes, the heatwaves may be over, but you might still feel some pain in your stomach or even experience cramps. Give it time… you’ve just gone through the worse part! But if you are really, really… like really curious to give it a try, then you can buy the peppers on Amazon!
